This inspirational greenspace, in the Excelsior neighborhood of San Francisco, was once a sloping hillside filled with trash.  It has been terraced, a patio built and is being planted by a group of wonderful volunteers.  An amazing community based ~~project!

Nurturescapes is part of the design team for the Children's Museum of Sonoma County's Mary's Garden, the outdoor exhibits.  We worked on the grant proposal, conceptual designs, design development and construction documentation.  The garden tells the tale of Mary, a butterfly, her relationship with the environment of Sonoma County, as well as her transformation from egg into a butterfly.  We are proud to be a part of such an incredible place! 

West Portal Playground
Nurturescapes is the landscape designer for the conceptual redesign of the West Portal Playground.  As a result of our work, the project recently received a 2014 Community Opportunity Fund grant of $500,000 from San Francisco Rec and Park.  Working with the community in the design process, the new conceptual design will include new play structures, additional seating areas, a nature nook, inclusive playstructure and interactive art pieces.   NurtureScapes is providing conceptual designs, participating in volunteer days, community meetings, working with local officials and preparing grant proposals.  Learn more at:  www.westportalplayground.com
